What is IGF-1 LR3?
IGF-1 LR3 is a peptide. A peptide is a very small protein. IGF-1 is short for Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1.
The body makes IGF-1 in the liver when growth hormone (GH) is present. This version is made in a lab.
LR3 stands for Long R3, a change to the build. That change gives it a half-life of 20 to 30 hours, up from about 20 minutes.
What researchers study it for
- IGF-1 receptor activation. Labs study how it switches on the IGF-1 receptor.
- Binding protein blocking. Studies look at how it slips past IGF binding proteins.
- Muscle cell counts. Researchers count muscle cells, a change they call hyperplasia.
