What is PT-141 (Bremelanotide)?
PT-141, also known as Bremelanotide, is a peptide.
It binds to melanocortin receptors, and the two studied here are MC-3 and MC-4.
These receptors sit in the brain, and studies note it acts through nerve signals, not through blood vessels.
What researchers study it for
- Melanocortin receptor binding. Labs study how it binds MC-3 and MC-4 receptors.
- Signals in the brain. Researchers study these receptor signals in brain tissue.
- How long it lasts. Studies list a half-life of about 2.7 hours.
