What is this Sodium Chloride solution?

This is a 0.9% sodium chloride solution, also called saline, which is simply table salt dissolved in water.

It is isotonic, meaning its salt level matches that of body fluid. A bacteriostatic agent and a preservative stop bacteria from growing inside the vial.

It comes as a sterile liquid in a sealed glass vial, made for lab use only.

What it is used for

Labs use this solution to mix, dilute, or rinse other liquids during research. Thanks to the bacteriostatic agent, the same vial can be used more than once without bacteria building up inside.
