What is Ipamorelin?

Ipamorelin is a pentapeptide, a peptide made of five amino acids. It is built to copy ghrelin, a natural hormone that signals the release of growth hormone (GH).

It attaches to a spot on the pituitary gland called the growth hormone secretagogue receptor, or GHSR. Labs study how picky that attachment is next to other GH peptides.

What researchers study it for

• Release of GH. Labs study how it prompts the pituitary gland to release GH.
• How picky it is. Studies look at how tightly it binds GHSR compared with other hormone sites.
• Other hormone levels. Labs measure whether GH release comes with a rise in cortisol and prolactin.
• Tests against other peptides. Studies compare it with GHRP-6 and CJC-1295 in GH research.
