What is Proscar (Finasteride)?
Proscar is a tablet form of a compound called Finasteride. Finasteride blocks an enzyme. An enzyme is a protein that speeds up a chemical reaction.
The enzyme is called 5-alpha reductase. It normally turns testosterone into another hormone called DHT (dihydrotestosterone). Each tablet holds 5 mg of Finasteride.
What researchers study it for
- Enzyme blocking. Researchers study how Finasteride blocks the 5-alpha reductase enzyme.
- DHT levels. Studies measure how much it lowers DHT. Levels can drop by up to 70% in the blood and up to 90% in the prostate gland.
- Hair follicle tissue. Labs study how lower DHT levels affect hair follicle cells.
- Hormone balance. Researchers study the balance of testosterone and DHT. This is often studied alongside research compound research.
- Dosage patterns. Studies commonly use 5 mg once a day.
What you get
One bottle of 30 tablets. Each tablet holds 5 mg of Finasteride.
How to store it
Keep the tablets in a cool, dry place. Keep them out of direct light and out of reach of children.
